Breaking all the rules: Extreme distributed asynchronous geospatial databases with Slony and PostgreSQL/PostGIS

This presentation is technically oriented and focuses on the design of a state wide distributed SDI architecture with 140+ nodes over an unreliable network (including satelite and dialup!) affected by fire, flood and vermin when nodes may be off line for up to several weeks at a time (or more). Performance, data integrity, temporal integrity will all be looked at in the context of a new SDI for an Australian State Government Department.
