This presentation will outline the course taken in constructing and selling the business case for using GeoFOSS in a significant Australian State Govt SDI. Issues include packaging the value proposition open source brings to the business, educating the decision makers (cheque signers!) about what is open source, getting the proprietary vendors fan boys on side, packaging commercial support and more. Pending successful trials and approval from the client, we are hoping to announce a major new roll out of a (customized) well known open source desktop gis client.
