Tiling Maps for the Web with TileCache

Recent advances in web mapping technology have highlighted the need for delivering pre-rendered and cached map image tiles. TileCache, a BSD-licensed project published by MetaCarta, attempts to fill this need by implementing the OSGeo WMS-C and TMS recommendations for delivering map tiles via HTTP, both of which were born at last year's FOSS4G conference. Implemented in Python and designed for ease of deployment, TileCache offers the ability to render tiles via MapScript, Mapnik, or WMS proxy, and can cache map tiles in memory on or disk. Discover how TileCache can improve the responsiveness and utility of your web mapping application!
